Adjudication and score setting
Grenland International Brass Festival has open adjudicating.
Each part of the competition gets assessed by two professional adjudicators and one time-keeper.
The adjudicators can give up to 100 points each for each of the competitive elements, based on the participating band's achievements.
Participants with the highest total score will win their respective sections.
This implies that the maximum score in the different sections are:
|
|
If two bands get in a tie, with equal total score, the best test piece score will determine the ranking in the championship and first sections.
For the second and third section, the ranking is determined by the mandatory programme on friday.
Time-keeper
The time-keeper measures the bands effective playing time in each competitive element.
Total effective playing time for each programme is calculated by adding together the time from the first to the last played the tone of each piece.
Applause and rigging between the pieces is not considered as a part of the total effective playing time.
Penalty for exceeding the maximum allowed playing time
0.5 points will be deducted per minute or part thereof above the allowable playing time as stated in the programme requirements.
Example: 0.5 points will be deducted after 25 minutes and 1 second, if the maximum allowed playing time is set to 25 minutes.
Double-playing
Any participant playing with more than one band, will be prioritized to play with the band he or she is registered in. If registered in more than one participating band, the participant will be prioritized to play in the highest level band first, from championship section and downwards.
Soloist Prize in all sections
A prize for best soloist is awarded in each section. The soloist prize is awarded based on the own choice programme on Saturday in all sections.
General
Every band is asked to sign up in their preferred sections. We will however make note that there are some competition and event technical limitations on the number of participating bands in the various sections. The festival organizer must therefore reserve the right to make changes in sectional placement. Any changes will be made in consultation with the involved bands.
